No. 8 Mountaineers Post 16th Victory

KIRKLAND, Wash. – No. 8 ranked Eastern Oregon shot their way into a lead in the first half on their way to a convincing 75-41 Cascade Collegiate Conference victory over Northwest University tonight.

EOU would shoot 50% for the first half which included 10 of 21 from the 3-point line as they would outscore the Eagles with identical 24-7 scores in the first two periods to take a commanding 48-14 lead at halftime. NU would be held to 18% shooting in the half hitting just 5 of 28 attempts.

The Mountaineers would cool down in the second half and the Eagles would heat up as they would match EOU’s scoring with, once again, identical quarter scores of 14-14, and 13-13, but Northwest U would be unable to make up any ground as Eastern Oregon would go on to post their 16th win of the season against two losses and remain unbeaten in CCC play at 9-0.

Northwest U (6-11, 3-5 CCC) was led by Miranda Langenhorst’s double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Mariah Stacona added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals. The Eagles shot 27% for the game but couldn’t get their 3-point shots to fall hitting 2 of 12 for 17%.

Four players scored in double figures for Eastern Oregon (16-2, 9-0 CCC) led by Payton Parrish’s 17 points including 5 of 9 from beyond the 3-point line. Mariah Swanson and Stormee Van Belle each scored 14 for the Mounties and Maya Ah You-Dias added 11 points.

Next Up: The Eagles will be in Olympia on Tuesday to play in-state rival, Evergreen.
