Big second half from RayQuan Evans (Crow) propels Cards to victory
Coeur d’Alene, ID – The 5th-ranked Cardinals ramped up the offense and clamped down on defense resulting in a 85-71 victory over Treasure Valley CC in Ontario, Oregon Saturday afternoon. Leading 39-38 at the break, the Cards (12-4 2-1) outscored the Chukars (5-9 1-2) 46-33, holding Treasure Valley to 30% shooting while connecting on 65% of their shots.
Freshman RayQuan Evans and sophomore Aushanti Potts-Woods each combined for 17 points to lead four players in double-figures. Evans scored all of his points in the final 20 minutes after sitting most of the first half with 2 fouls. Charles Williams had a fine all around effort with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. The sophomore was also perfect at the charity strip hitting all 6 of his attempts. As a team, the Cardinals had their best free throw shooting game of the season hitting
21 of 23 attempts (91%).
“This was a huge getting the W on the road,” said Head Coach Corey Symons. “It’s a nice momentum builder leading into a big week.”
The Cardinals are on the road Monday at 4pm facing Big Bend CC before returning home Wednesday against 6th-ranked Walla Walla and 7th-ranked Spokane on Saturday.
