Yaks Go 1-1 in behind Quentin Raynor (Yakama)

YAKIMA, WA – Yakima Valley’s men staged a peak performance last Wednesday night, routing Columbia Basin 104-66 in an NWAC East Region game in Sherar Gym. The Yaks, however, were on the other end of the spectrum on Saturday, falling 100-81 at North Idaho.
The split left YVC 6-4 in the region and 15-8 overall. Going into an 8 p.m. home game Wednesday against Blue Mountain and a Saturday matchup at Spokane, Yakima Valley is sixth place in its region. The top four teams qualify for the playoffs, and YVC has six regular-season games left.
Against CBC in the first game of the NWAC season’s second half, Gamaun Boykin led a balanced scoring attack with 18 points. Quentin Raynor had 17 points, Trey Delp 14 and Nate Brown came off the bench for 12 points and three steals.
Yakima Valley shot .557 from the field and .583 from 3-point range.
At fifth-ranked North Idaho, Boykin rolled up 27 points, six rebounds and five assists. David Lindgren scored 14 points, Raynor had 12 and Jordan Blodgett added 10 in a reserve role.
