Packed house more than 23,000 in Rupp Arena, Willis decided to pop the question. His moment came before the tip when, as he was honored during the Senior Night ceremony, he knelt and proposed to his long-time girlfriend who was on the court with him.

“I looked at that and it’s like one of your sons is getting married,” Calipari said. “And I started getting teared up and I talked to myself a little bit.”

Willis managed to slip the ring on even though his girlfriend’s hands were shaking. He then went on to play a basketball game on his engagement night.

“I was just trying to stay in the moment,” he said. “I also had a game to play too so I was focused on making this moment special for me and my girlfriend but also have the duty to play basketball and come out with a win.”
