RayQuan Evans (Crow) helps Cardinals run away from Columbia Basin College 90-59
Coeur d’Alene, ID. – The 5th ranked Cardinals used a stifling second half defense to run away from Columbia Basin College 90-59 Wednesday night at Rolly Williams Court. The Hawks (2-13, 0-2) cut the 52-35 halftime lead to just 7 with 11:40 remaining in the game. However, the Cards (11-4, 1-1) clamped down on defense, going on a 27-3 run to win going away.
Sophomore Tyler Brimhall led the charge with a career-high 30 points, including
6 of 9 from beyond the arc to go with 9 rebounds. Freshman RayQuan Evans (Crow) filled up the stat sheet with 19 points on 7 of 12 shooting, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and freshman Jared Greene contributed with a double-double, 12 points and 11 rebounds. NIC, tops in the NWAC in rebounding, continued that trend, out rebounding the Hawks 52-29.
“I was happy with the way we closed out the game after the Hawks had cut the lead to seven,” said Head Coach Corey Symons. “But, having said that, we can’t let teams get back into the game.”
The Cardinals travel to Ontario, Oregon this Saturday to face Treasure Valley (5-8 1-1). Catch all the action live on our You Tube channel at Nicathletics.com beginning with the women’s game at 2pm with the men to follow at 4pm.
