Nakai named ACCAC Player of the Week for the second time

Pima Community College women’s basketball player Jacqulynn Nakai (Coconino HS) earned her second nod as ACCAC Division II Player of the Week on Monday for the week of Jan. 15-21.

Nakai, a freshman guard, averaged 22 points and 6.5 rebounds as the Aztecs lost at Mesa Community College last Wednesday but came back to beat Arizona Western College on Saturday. Nakai scored 31 points in Saturday’s contest. She also had eight assists and five steals for the week.

Nakai earned her first honor as player of the week for the week of Nov. 20-26. She has played and started in all 19 games averaging 16.9 points, 6.6 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. She is second in the ACCAC conference in scoring and leads the conference in assists.

The Aztecs will host Tohono O’odham Community College on Wednesday at the West Campus Gym. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
