Patty Mills leads Australia to First Olympic Medal

Patty Mills poured on 42 points to lead Australia past Slovenia, 107-93, to secure the Boomers’ first Olympic men’s basketball medal. “It is time to bring an Olympic medal home, back to our country, Australia, so I can hang it up at Mum and dad’s house.” Mills said after the bronze.

Boomers star Patty Mills signed a two-year deal worth up to $12 million according to his agent Steven Heumann of CAA Sports Agency. The deal includes a player option.

Mills was in high demand after his recent performances at the Olympics, where he averaged 26.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game.

“It is time to bring an Olympic medal home, back to our country, Australia, so I can hang it up at Mum and dad’s house.’ Now that we’ve made it over the hill, this is the standard now of Australian basketball form and, and we take nothing less. I don’t know whether to cry, laugh, smile, a lot of emotions.” an emotional Mills said in his post-game interview.
