THE WINNEBAGO MAN: DAVID WINGETT

Sophomore Year 17.9 points per game
Freshman Year 10.6 points per game
Winnebago High School in Nebraska is home to the NSAA Class C-1 State Boys Basketball Champions and one of the most polished Native high school basketball players in the country. David Wingett 6’7″ (Winnebago/Ho-Chunk) has put Winnebago High School on the map with the jaw dropping highlights and his unique skill set.
Since the arrival of David Wingett the Indians have dominated their competition going 81-6 over a 3 year stretch. This hasn’t went unseen with division 1 programs like Nebraska University taking notice with their eyes on the prize. Winnebago came up short a year ago losing to Elmwood-Murdock in the State semifinals of the NSAA State tournament.
One thing is evident at first sight, Wingett posses a long 6’7 frame but plays more like a guard then a big man. He has a smooth shot that can stretch well beyond the 3 point line and at times can be found running plays as a point guard would normally do. At 6’7″ Wingett has the skill set and defensive capabilities to play virtually at any position at the high school level. He has progressively improved throughout his high school career in just about every area in his game. We look forward to following David Wingett and the Indians this season
Winnebago High School W/L Record

Sophomore Year 27-1 State Champions
