Native American Showcase – Middle School Girls

Yakima, WA – Middle School girls group was also well represented with talented Native ball players from around the Pacific Northwest.  Day 1 of the middle school featured a skills and drills day with intense ball handling drills and additional skill work. That was followed with a scheduled all-star game on day 2.

While there were many good players that participated in the middle school portion of the camp, the top 5 were considered because they separated themselves from the pack.

The top 5 –

Sharayah Johnson – 2021 – Tacoma, WA – 6’3″ F – Big lefty that can shoot it. Went to work early in the paint on offense and defense the opposition didn’t want to enter the post. One coach mentioned “This isn’t even fair”! Invited into the High School and caused problems for whoever guarded her.

Jordan Shawl – 2021 – Lapwai, ID – 5’6″ G – Big body guard thats does a good job using that to her advantage. High IQ, boxes out hard, grabs rebounds, & does a good job talking to teammates. Great range on her shot. She’ll be a solid player for the Lapwai Wildcats in years to come.

Best of the Rest –

Kenya Scabbyrobe – 2021 – Tacoma, WA – 5’4″ G – She handles the ball great in the half court setting but needs to work on her handle in transition. Solid at boxing out and rebounding the ball.

Kahlees Young – 2022 – Lapwai, ID – 5’7″ G – A bigger guard for her age group Young has solid athleticism and a good looking shot. She knocked down a couple 3’s in the games. The young sister of Koyama Young will be a player to watch in the future.

Saneah Eagleheart – 2021 – Yakima, WA – 5’4″ G – Has a nice little runner and looked confident throughout the scrimmage games. Saw he knock down a number of shots throughout day 1. A good looking shot. Look forward to seeing how the sisters develop.

G’mewiin Mills  – 2022 – Yakima, WA – 5’4″ G – Showed a ton of fight battling the older girls throughout the camp which earned her All-Star camp award.  Solid skills and athleticism for this young one. Has a chance to be a very good player!
