Native American Showcase – High School Boys

Yakima, WA – The high school boys group was a treat to watch. There was several standouts that I’ve covered all year and a handful of kids I never really had the chance to watch before. Love what I saw from this group.

Below is our run down of top performers from the event. So much talent throughout the Showcase but the top 5 were considered because they separated themselves from the pack.

The top 5 –

Trazil Lane

Trazil Lane – 2017 – Bellingham, WA – 6’5″ CG – The man child! Lane put on a show for all in attendance and showed why he was named Washington State Player of the Year. He once again showed up and showed out!! Scored in a variety of different ways from all over the court. He can rebound the ball!!! Lane was named MVP of the 2017 Native American Showcase. He is currently unsigned weighing his options!

Ray Cheney – 2017 – Yakima, WA – 6’3″ G – Athletic lefty guard that should play somewhere if given the oppertunity. He gets his buckets from all over the court but strength is the mid range game. Needs to continue to work on his skill set but I really like his upside. Another c/o 2017 thats under the radar!

Quentin Raynor

Quentin Raynor – 2017 – Vancouver, WA – 6’2″ PG – One of the sweetest shots I’ve seen on the Native circuit. When he gets going he can be fun to watch. Can dribble, shoot, pass.. total package on the offensive end. Good sized point guard. Currently unsigned weighing his options. He is a STEAL for any JC program.

Brandon Flett

Brandon Flett – 2018 – Wellpinit, WA – 6’4″ Wing – Long skinny frame. Kind of has that old mans game… uses his size to create an advantage. Range out to the 3 point line.  He doesn’t ever look like he’s trying very hard but very effective out on the court. He goes up and snatches rebounds.

Marjon Beauchamp – 2020 – Seattle, WA – 6’5″ G – High major division 1 prospect. If he continues to polish his game and expand his skill set, his stock will continue to rise. Currently playing on the Adidas Gauntlet Circuit with Northwest Panthers out of Tacoma. Remember the name, he’s going to a special player!

Best of the Rest –

Cameron Shawl – 2017 – Lapwai, ID – 5’10” G – Great range on his shot and a strong build. Does a good job finishing through contact. Plays hard on both end of the court. Another senior thats unsigned but will ultimately end up playing somewhere.

River Allen – 2019 – Shelton, WA – 6’2″ SG – Big strong guard.. he’s just get buckets.. He’ll need to sprout up for he may have to change his game. Knows how to score and use his advantage. Takes little guys to the post and big guys off the bounce. Plays bully basketball.. looks like a man amongst boys at times.

Wesley Abrams – 2017 – Yakima, WA – 6’0″ G – Great speed with the ball. He pushed the ball from end to end better then anybody at the camp. Good looking shot and can finish with either hand. Named camp All-Star after showing out in almost every game and drill.

Ki Castilleja – 2017 – Yakima, WA – 6’3″ G – Solid player that does a little bit of everything. He was one of the bigger guards at the camp. Does a little bit of everything well. Nice mid range game. Rebounds well for his skinny frame & finishes around the basket with both hands. Should plat at the JC level if given the opportunity.

Isiah Strom – 2018 – Yakima, WA – 5’7 PG – He is a pass first point guard. Kind of a rare breed nowadays to find a kid that looks for their teammates first. At times, he needs to be a little more selfish and takeover… posses all the tools to get it done. Undersized and will also need to get stronger but a solid pick-up for any JC program down the line.

Keegan Jojola – 2017 – Bellingham, WA – 6’3″ F/C – Back to the basket post player that showed the ability to finish. Big strong player that will end playing college football. Finishes!! He’s grew on me as the camp progressed. Solid rebounder. Has a nice lil hook.

Nathan Buck – 2017 – Yakima, WA – 5’9″ G – Nice strong guard. Definitely a tweener, he’s fairly undersized. More of a off guard … he can put the ball in the basket. Coaches son, Has high IQ, knows how to play the game.

Wyatt Courville – 2017 – Auburn, WA – 5’8″ G – Has a smooth game.. Nice handle, good-looking shot, plays with confidence. Loved his game.. showed well in drills but didn’t preform all that well in the games. Love what I saw from him.

Jason Axtel – 2017 – Yakima, WA – 6’0″ G – WIAA All-State has another impressive showing. Very dependable player.. Not overly flashy just gets the job done. He’s another unsigned senior that could play at the JC level if given the opportunity.

Justin Strom – 2018 – Yakima, WA – 6’0″ G – He’s one of my favorites. Plays hard on both ends of the court. Athletic quick guard. He’s got great elevation on his shot.. pull up game is nice. Has the ability to be a excellent shooter if he shot continues to develop. Needs to continue to work on his skill set.

Everette Howe – 2019 – Yakima, WA – 5’10″ G – I like what I saw out of Howe.. Kind of reminds me of his older brother Jacoby Howe, the former Wapato standout and YVCC point guard. Plays hard and is fearless… almost always matched up with someone older and went at them. Tough kid.
