Quentin Raynor (Yakama Nation) opens up east region play with Bang
Yakima, Wash. – Yakima Valley College’s men’s basketball team opened the NWAC East Region season with a bang last week.
The Yaks started with a 91-65 rout at Columbia Basin on Wednesday, then came home to Sherar Gym on Saturday for an 83-77 defeat of a North Idaho team that was tied for 5th in the most recent NWAC rankings.
Gamaun Boykin led five Yakima Valley scorers against CBC by totaling 22 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Quentin Raynor (Yakama Nation) had 17 points, hitting five 3-pointers, Modesta Britten scored 13 points, Jordan Blodgett (Yakima Nation) totaled 11 points and four assists, and David Lindgren came off the bench for 11 points and six boards.
On Saturday, Boykin compiled 21 points, hitting 11 of 14 free throws, along with seven rebounds. Britten had 15 points and seven rebounds, Trey Delp totaled 14 points and five assists and Lindgren, again in a reserve role, added 13 points.
At 2-0 in the East and 11-4 overall, YVC has won seven of its last nine games. The Yaks will continue region play Wednesday at Blue Mountain before returning home for a 4 p.m. Saturday meeting with Spokane.
