Player Spotlight: Box Elder’s Lily Gopher (2019)

Today’s player spotlight is Box Elder junior Lily Gopher. Gopher, a Chippewa Cree tribal member is one of the top prospects in the state of Montana. Caught out eye in Arizona at the NABI tournament when she presented matchup problems for the defense. 5’10” guard can do everything on the court.

unnamed-17Box Elder is currently 14-0 and ranked #2 in the entire state of Montana, regardless of classification. #1 Class C Box Elder is favorite heading into the post season winning by a average of 42 points per game. Gopher, averaging over 18 points per game and leading the best team in the state.

Lily has played a important role for Box Elder since her arrival. As a freshman she helped lead Box Elder to the District 9C championship and Class C state championship. She followed that up leading Box Elder to a 14-0 in the District 9C. She also helped the Bears win a second straight district championship.

Gopher has earned All-Conference honors in her first two seasons and Class C All-State honors. In addition to the teams success, Lily is putting together a great individual resume for colleges coaches. Excited to host her at the Native American Showcase.
