BJ Burries sets new Arizona Prep Career Scoring Record

GLOBE, AZ – Globe High School basketball star B.J. Burries became the All-time leading scorer in Arizona high school basketball history Friday night. 10 days ago he passed former NBA legend Mike Bibby.

The senior point guard, scored 41 points last night against Tucson St. Augustine to accomplish the feat. He needed just 25 points to become the all-time leader before entering the contest.

“Its means a lot to my family, San Carlos tribe, and the Native community.” Burries said. “I wouldn’t have done it without the man upstairs. Glory be to God.

Burries has scored 3,171 total points in his four-year varsity career. He is averaging a state-leading 37.9 points a game, still has four regular-season games left to play before the 2A playoffs.
