Shyla Latone Transfers to Utah State from Cleveland State

Shyla Latone, a 5-foot-4 guard, transfers to Utah State after spending her freshman season at Cleveland State. Latone played in 14 games for the Vikings during the 2018-19 season, where she averaged 1.8 points, 0.5 assists, 0.4 rebounds and 0.4 steals per game. 

Latone was a four-year letterwinner at Bonita Vista High School. She averaged 36.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 4.0 assists per game her senior year, where she led the Barons to a 35-7 record. As a senior, Latone was named the San Diego County, California Interscholastic Federations-San Diego, and Metro League Player of the Year. She also earned first team all-San Diego, all-Metro League and all-state accolades. Latone finished her high school career with 3,181 career points, including a career-high 76 points in a single game. She also competed for the EBO Coastal Elite club team where she averaged 13.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game.

“We are looking forward to having Shyla in our basketball program,” Finkbeiner said. “She is a high scoring guard out of San Diego that shoots the long three. Shyla’s basketball skills and her knowledge of the game will be a nice addition to our Aggie roster.”
