JUCO Report: Spokane BigFoot Koyama Young

Koyama Young and the Spokane Bigfoot 11-9 (4-7) nearly hand the Walla Walla Warriors 21-1 (10-0) their first loss in conference play, Wednesday night at home, falling short 61-58.

Koyama Young was named MVP of the 2nd Annual Native American Showcase

With most of her season averages up from a year ago, Young is enjoying another spectacular year with the Bigfoot.

In her first season, the 5-9 freshman guard, was placed in a key role and lead the Bigfoot with 14.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game earning NWAC All-Eastern Region 2nd team and Freshman of the year.

Koyama Young also had a great high school career averaging 18.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.7 steals and 4.1 assists throughout her senior year. She was named the Idaho State Player of the year, and won three State Championships with the Lapwai Wildcats.

The Spokane Bigfoot currently stand 11-9 (4-7) with five games remaining in the regular season. The Women’s Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight will be held at the Walt Price Fitness Center March 5-6 on the campus of Everett Community College if the Bigfoot qualify.
